The copolymer itself is a mix of polyethylene oxide (POEO, see Figure 5 of the original study) in which difene groups and propylene glycols have long been replaced by dicarboxylic acids and esters in the polyethylene to form difethylated fatty acids. This is why the price of this material is so much lower than polyvinyl chloride or polyester (see "Materials and methods for this invention"). a small fee, you will be able to buy both polyethylene and POEO copolymers at this supplier's web site. The two most basic difethylated polyethylene compounds are the dioctylimidazolyl diferyl (diferyl), and dioctyldiphenyl dichloride difethyl ester-coated polyethylene (diferyl-2,3,4,6-tetrafluoro-2,3,4,6-tetrafluoro-di-cinnamylidene, or difenclin. As you can read in the above references, difenclin was tested in several different tests, and was found to be the most effective at trapping inorganic carbon dioxide gas, but this study also showed that it is ineffective at trapping chlorine gas. I have not been able to confirm any of his research, but I am told his group has also studied inorganic CO2 trapping using difenclin, and has been very successful with this method.
